A. Scott Warthin Jr. Museum of Geology and Natural History houses an extensive collection of rocks, minerals, fossils, and natural history items commissioned in 1862. Visitors explore wood-framed glass display cases containing specimens accumulated over more than 150 years. The museum features a proportional geologic timeline with hand-painted illustrations of ancient earth life and exhibits on departmental research involving foraminifera and paleoclimatology. The collection serves Earth Science courses and researchers throughout the Hudson Valley region. School groups, Scout troops, and other organizations can arrange educational programs tailored to their interests or coursework, with museum staff providing guided visits on flexible schedules. All display areas are wheelchair accessible via an outside ramp at Ely Hall's north door. The museum is located in Arlington, New York, at Vassar College's Ely Hall.
Hours: Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. when the College is in session
