About Bannerman Castle
Bannerman Castle is a historic structure on Pollepel Island in the Hudson River near Beacon, New York, accessible only by boat tour. Visitors reach the island by ferry and explore the castle grounds on guided walking tours led by a Bannerman Castle historian. The island offers multiple ways to experience the site: a standard cruise and walking tour, a kayaking and walking combination, and self-guided visits paired with live music performances held on the third Sunday of each month. Immersive theatrical experiences, such as "Jo's Dream," blend performance art with the castle setting. The venue also hosts cultural events including silent film screenings and dramatic readings. The castle and island are managed by the Bannerman Castle Trust, a volunteer organization partnering with New York State Parks to stabilize the historic buildings and operate the site as an educational and cultural facility.
