About Villa Montezuma Museum

Villa Montezuma Museum in San Diego's Sherman Heights Historic District offers guided docent tours of the home of Jesse Shepard, exploring the life and spiritualist practice of its original owner. Visitors tour the mansion interior, which includes exhibits on Shepard's history and the property's architectural significance. The museum hosts special evening tours by lantern light examining spiritualism history, as well as Cinballera Salon classical music events featuring lieder performances. Two-hour walking tours of the Sherman Heights Historic District cover the neighborhood's period of significance from 1868 to 1930, including the original Sherman farmhouse and Mayor Sherman's mansion.
