The Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House preserves the history and architecture of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter through exhibits, artifacts, photographs, and archives housed in the oldest building in downtown San Diego, built in 1850. Visitors explore the Davis-Horton House itself via self-guided pamphlet tours that walk through the historic residence. The Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation also operates guided neighborhood walking tours that explore the 16½-block historic district, including Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning options. The museum presents rotating exhibitions that highlight the diverse ethnic groups, indigenous peoples, and immigrants whose contributions shaped San Diego's development since 1850, including the Kumeyaay First People, Spanish and Mexican settlers, Chinese immigrants, and Japanese, Filipino, Italian, and Portuguese communities.
