About The San Diego Veterans Museum

The San Diego Veterans Museum honors all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces by preserving their stories and legacy through exhibits and artifacts. Visitors view collections spanning from World War I through Desert Storm, including a dedicated Pearl Harbor exhibit, Korean War display, and Women in Service exhibit. The museum houses a Military History Reference Library containing more than eleven thousand volumes. Displays feature the first American flag to fall in the Philippines in 1942 and the pen Admiral Nimitz used to sign surrender documents in Tokyo Bay. Dramatic murals showcase American ex-prisoners of war signatures. Docent-led living history tours bring these collections to life. The museum occupies the former chapel of the Naval Hospital, completed in 1945, located on Inspiration Point in San Diego's historic Balboa Park. Group tours are available with limitations.
