About The Earth And Space Science Center

The Earth and Space Science Center at Tyler Junior College features a state-of-the-art planetarium with a 40-foot domed theater equipped with Digitarium Aethos digital projection technology, delivering immersive full-dome video experiences. Visitors watch planetarium shows including children's programs such as Accidental Astronauts, Little Star That Could, From the Blue Planet to the Red Planet, and Earth, Moon, & Sun, alongside adult presentations like Space The New Frontier, Serengeti, Our Violent Planet, Wayfinders, and The Universe Through All The Senses. The facility includes interactive displays and exhibits, classroom spaces, and outdoor play areas. The center also hosts Star Party Saturdays, evening events for observing the night sky. School field trips run throughout the school year. Located in Tyler, Texas, the center opened as East Texas's first planetarium in 1963 and reopened in 2011 following major renovation and expansion.
