About Cotton Belt Depot Museum
The Cotton Belt Depot Museum occupies the restored baggage section of a historic railroad station in Tyler, Texas. Visitors tour exhibits featuring artifacts, memorabilia, and photographs documenting the Cotton Belt railroad's history in the area. The museum displays the famous Bragg Train Collection alongside Winfield paintings and other items connected to the region's rail heritage. The original depot opened to the public in 1905 and served passenger trains until 1956, when the last train departed. The City of Tyler restored the building to its original condition in 2003 and opened the museum that same year. Staffed by volunteers from the Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society, the museum welcomes guests during published business hours, with special tours available by arrangement. General admission is free.
