About Kilgore College East Texas Oil Museum
Kilgore College East Texas Oil Museum preserves the history of East Texas's 1930s oil boom through period artifacts, oral histories, and primary source documents that chronicle the independent oil producers and wildcatters who developed the great East Texas Oilfield. Visitors explore exhibits featuring sucker rod wrenches and other oilfield tools alongside rotating exhibits such as "One Texan's Improbable and Unimaginable Journey," which highlights an East Texan's service with the military unit that carried out atomic bomb missions in World War II. The museum hosts group tours by appointment and rents its facility for events. A gift shop offers shirts, coffee mugs, and exclusive books. The museum operates on the Kilgore College campus in Kilgore, Texas, and publishes admission prices online. Children age two and under enter free, Kilgore College students and employees receive free admission, and seniors and military members qualify for discounted admission.
