About Texas Military Forces Museum

The Texas Military Forces Museum occupies 45,000 square feet on Camp Mabry and traces the history of Texas militia and volunteer forces from 1823 through the present day. Visitors explore permanent exhibits featuring uniforms, weapons, equipment, personal items, photographs, film, battle dioramas and full-scale environments depicting the Texas Revolution, the Texas Navy, the Texas Republic, the Mexican War, frontier battles, the War between the States, the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, peacekeeping deployments and the Global War on Terror. The museum presents the stories of the Texas Army and Air National Guard as well as the Texas State Guard in both peacetime and wartime. Living history programs, battle reenactments and special events occur throughout the year. Outdoor exhibits are open from dawn to dusk. General admission is free. The museum is located in Austin, Texas.
