Teco Line Streetcar System, Tampa

About Teco Line Streetcar System

The TECO Line Streetcar System in Tampa operates vintage electric streetcars that transport visitors and residents through downtown, the Channel District, and Ybor City. Riders board at ten stations including Centennial Park Station, Centro Ybor Station, Streetcar Society Station, Cadrecha Plaza Station, Port Tampa Bay Station, York Street Station, The Florida Aquarium Station, Water Street Station, HSBC Station, and Dick Greco Plaza Station. The system offers general admission free of charge. Visitors experience Streetcar Live, a unique mobile concert series featuring Tampa's local music performed aboard the cars. The streetcars revive a transportation tradition that dates to 1892, when electric lines first connected Tampa's cigar factories, parks, and neighborhoods. Historic Birney cars operated by uniformed conductors once carried nearly 24 million passengers annually during the 1920s before service ended in 1946. Modern service resumed in 2002, reconnecting the urban center and supporting tourism throughout Tampa.
