About Sunset State Beach
Sunset State Beach, located 16 miles south of Santa Cruz near Watsonville, features pine trees, mountainous sand dunes, and oceanside picnic spots bordered by agricultural fields. Visitors camp at the park or use day-use areas, with facilities accommodating trailers and motorhomes up to 31 feet long. The park hosts programs including Little Rangers and Junior Rangers events. Dogs are allowed throughout the park except on the beach itself. A Disabled Discount Pass entitles holders to a 50 percent discount on vehicle day-use, family camping, and boat-use fees. Fourth graders and their families receive free entry through the state's 4th Grade Pass, which grants access to Sunset State Beach and 53 other select state parks.
