About Scottsdale Railroad Museum

The Scottsdale Railroad Museum captures generations of railroad history through exhibits housed in the historic Peoria Depot. Engine No. 6, a 2-6-0 locomotive built in 1907 by Baldwin Locomotive Works, hauled copper ore across Arizona for decades. The Roald Amundsen Pullman Car, built in 1928, served every U.S. president from Herbert Hoover through Dwight Eisenhower and is listed on the National Historic Register. Visitors explore railroad artifacts and memorabilia throughout the museum grounds. A rotating special exhibit features the Merci Car, a gift from France expressing gratitude for American support, displaying original items including toys, books, clothing and thank you notes. The museum offers visitors an opportunity to walk among historic locomotives and railcars while learning about Arizona's railroad heritage through preserved artifacts and restored vehicles.
