About Santa Cruz Whale Watching

Santa Cruz Whale Watching operates boat cruises departing from Santa Cruz Harbor that focus on observing marine mammals and sea life in Monterey Bay. Visitors board charter boats for excursions lasting three to four hours to encounter whales, dolphins, and other ocean wildlife. The operation offers two primary cruise types: Whale, Dolphin, and Sea Life Excursions in the Outer Bay, with one focusing on California Gray Whale migration and another concentrating on Humpback whales that feed on anchovies, sardines, and krill. Cruises also provide opportunities to spot Killer whales, Blue whales, and sea birds depending on season and location. A two-hour Shark and Wildlife Trip is available as an alternative experience. The Monterey Bay area supports marine life encounters throughout the calendar. Each excursion varies in wildlife sightings based on sea conditions, distance from shore, and daily marine life distribution. Cruises accommodate adults and children and depart from Santa Cruz Harbor on the California coast.
