Sandoway Discovery Center is a beachside nature museum housed in a historic oceanfront home in Delray Beach, offering hands-on exhibits and educational programs focused on South Florida's marine and freshwater ecosystems. Visitors explore a 15,000-gallon coral reef pool filled with nurse sharks and reef fish, touch stingrays in a dedicated tank, and handle sea stars, urchins, and sea cucumbers in an invertebrate touch tank. The center features an Everglades room with native and invasive reptile species including pythons and alligators, a reptile and amphibian room with tree frogs and an axolotl, and a nocturnal room highlighting creatures of the night. Additional spaces include a children's activity room with science books and microscopes, an observation deck overlooking the Atlantic, a butterfly garden, and the Yvonne S. Templeton Shell Gallery displaying nearly 10,000 museum-quality shells. Daily programs include shark and stingray feedings, aquarium feedings, and animal encounters where visitors meet resident creatures up close.
