About South Florida Railway Museum

The South Florida Railway Museum in Deerfield Beach tells the story of how railroads shaped the region's development through artifacts, railroadiana displays, and two operating model railroad layouts. Visitors explore exhibits that explain the historical importance of rail transportation to South Florida's population growth and industrial needs. The museum also hosts model railroad swap meets and assists with sales of collections and estates. The organization has operated since 1994 in partnership with the Deerfield Historical Society and maintains memberships with the Florida East Coast Railway Society, ACL/SCL Historical Society, and the National Model Railroad Association. The museum welcomes the public on the second Saturday of each month, offering visitors a chance to learn about local rail history and observe working miniature railroad systems. Instructors at the museum also teach the Operation Lifesaver program, which educates people about rail crossing safety.
