Cornell Art Museum occupies a restored 1913 Delray Elementary School building within the Old School Square Historic Arts District in Delray Beach. Visitors explore rotating exhibitions displayed throughout the museum's original classrooms and central atrium, which has been opened to the second floor to showcase natural light and create an expansive gallery space. The museum was dedicated in 1990 and named in honor of Delray Beach residents Harriet W. and George D. Cornell. The building's distinctive Masonry Vernacular architecture, rare Dade County Pine floors, and tall windows define the space. Recent exhibitions have included the Flora Exhibition and Art on the Square installations. The museum underwent a substantial interior renovation completed in 2017, enhancing the exhibition areas while preserving the structure's historic character and original architectural details.
