About San Diego Natural History Museum

The San Diego Natural History Museum in Balboa Park invites visitors to explore five floors of exhibitions including Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea, Fossil Mysteries, Amazement in the Basement with its demonstration lab and Paleo Center views, and Skulls. The museum houses a research collection of more than 8 million specimens and operates a giant screen theater. Visitors can also access the Nature Trail, a free native plant garden open to all park visitors. The museum offers Canyoneer nature hikes and educational programs including Nature Studio and Nature & Me Storytime. The facility opens daily at 10 AM, with select Fridays extending until 11 PM for Nat at Night programming.
