About Safford House Museum

The Safford House Museum in Tarpon Springs is an 1883 Victorian residence restored to showcase the life of one of the city's original developers. Visitors take docent-led tours through period rooms filled with original family possessions and authentic furnishings that illustrate daily life in late-nineteenth-century Florida. The house features a charming porch swing, a large dining room where the Safford family gathered for meals and social events, a parlor, bedrooms, and kitchen spaces throughout that reflect the era's gracious living. The residence is the home of Anson P.K. Safford, his wife Soledad, a prominent social leader of Mexican heritage, and his sister Mary Jane, the town's first doctor. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and owned by the City of Tarpon Springs, the museum demonstrates Florida vernacular architecture and offers insight into the region's early history.
