About S.S. Lane Victory

The S.S. Lane Victory is a World War II merchant vessel and National Historic Landmark berthed in San Pedro. Visitors board the ship to tour two complete museums filled with videos, historical artifacts, and anecdotes about Merchant Mariners. The experience includes standing on the decks where crew members worked, visiting the bridge where officers navigated while watching for submarines and dive-bombers, and walking the passageways to see living quarters, eating areas, and recreation spaces. Guided tours and group visits including school tours are available. The ship also hosts special events and cruises. The Lane Victory served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, transporting supplies to allied troops and rescuing Korean refugees. The museum documents how maritime heroes lived and worked during their months at sea under constant threat.
