About Rockton Township HIstorical Society

The Rockton Township Historical Society operates a museum dedicated to collecting and sharing the history of Rockton Township. Visitors explore exhibits including a historic furniture collection of preserved pieces from Rockton's early homes, documents and archives with an inventory of historic buildings, a vintage clothing exhibit showing styles from different historical periods, and industrial and farming equipment such as tools and machinery from Rockton's early industries. The society, formed in 1952 to preserve the Stephen Mack home in the Macktown Forest Preserve, maintains a sizeable manuscript collection featuring letters, legal documents, pictures and family trees of the Mack, Talcott and other first settlers. The museum suits visitors interested in local history and early settlement patterns. The society holds monthly meetings and special events throughout the year.
