About Midway Village Museum
Midway Village Museum in Rockford offers visitors interactive exhibits spanning more than 20,000 square feet inside the Main Museum Center, where self-guided tours explore early Northern Illinois history. Galleries focus on Rockford's development, including exhibits about the iconic Sock Monkey and the Rockford Peaches baseball team. The "Many Faces, One Community" gallery highlights immigration to the region, while additional exhibits cover local industry and aviation history. The 148-acre campus also includes the Victorian Village, a 13-acre open-air museum comprising 26 historical buildings filled with artifacts from the era. History interpreters guide visitors through the village during seasonal operations. Permanent galleries feature continually changing temporary displays alongside core collections. The museum hosts special events throughout the year, including World War II Days and All Hallows Eve. Tickets are sold online through the museum's website. The Main Museum Center operates Tuesday through Sunday with hours published on the venue's site.
