Riordan Mansion State Historic Park preserves a forty-room house built in 1904 for two Riordan families in Flagstaff. Visitors tour the over 13,000 square-foot home designed by Charles Whittlesey, the architect of Grand Canyon's El Tovar Hotel. The mansion exemplifies Arts and Crafts style architecture, featuring log-slab siding, volcanic stone arches, and hand-split wooden shingles. Mansion tours are offered daily at the top of each hour. Inside, the home displays exceptional collections of Craftsman furnishings from Edison, Stickley, and Steinway. The park hosts educational programs including evening lectures on topics such as bats of Northern Arizona and the history of ecological science. The grounds provide space for walking and nature exploration among ponderosa pine trees.
