About Gold King Mine & Ghost Town
Gold King Mine & Ghost Town sits on Cleopatra Mountain near Jerome and preserves the mining heritage that built the town. Visitors explore over 100 vintage vehicles, historic mining shafts, and a working sawmill on an authentic 1890s ghost town site. The self-guided tour takes in the old Audrey Headframe and mining structures from the early mining era. The grounds feature antique equipment and machinery displayed throughout, including old chainsaws, outboard motors, and tricycles. Visitors can photograph the cardboard cutout of a 1950s gas station attendant posed beside a classic car and pump. Optional activities include gold panning, where visitors keep any gold they find, and gemstone panning. Leashed pets are welcome to join the tour. The attraction suits families and history enthusiasts wanting to step back in time and learn about Jerome's mining past. Gold King Mine & Ghost Town is located less than a mile from Jerome's visitor parking area on a fully paved road.
