About The Arboretum at Flagstaff

The Arboretum at Flagstaff is a 200-acre nature preserve dedicated to native plants of the high desert, set at 7,150 feet elevation surrounded by ponderosa forest with views of the San Francisco Peaks. Visitors walk several miles of family and pet-friendly trails through display gardens, greenhouses, wetlands, and woodlands that feature 750 plant species. Interpretive signage explains the region's ecology and wildlife encounters. The grounds include historic buildings and a gift shop featuring local artist works. Daily naturalist walks depart at 11 a.m. The Arboretum runs a plant nursery selling native species suited to high-elevation gardens. Educational programs include youth and adult classes, summer day camps with themes of scientific and outdoor exploration, and school field trips. Special events and plant sales occur throughout the season. Admission is charged.
