About Red Barn Climbing Gym

Red Barn Climbing is a bouldering-only indoor rock climbing gym located in a restored 100-year-old dairy barn on the west end of the Rochester Institute of Technology campus. Visitors climb shorter routes protected by padded floors, with climbing walls covering over 5,000 feet of bouldering terrain set to accommodate all skill levels from beginner to expert. The facility welcomes RIT students, staff, faculty, and community members ages 18 and older. Climbing shoes are required and available for rental. The Red Barn operates without heating or plumbing inside the barn itself, so visitors should dress for outdoor temperatures. A restroom is located in an adjacent annex. The gym also offers team-building programs designed to foster communication, problem-solving, group support, and trust among groups from both the RIT community and outside organizations. These custom sessions run from one to three hours and follow a challenge-by-choice philosophy.
