About Reading Adventureland

Reading Adventureland at The Strong Museum in Rochester brings children's literature to life as an artifact-rich, interactive pop-up book. Visitors follow the Yellow Brick Road through five distinct literary landscapes inspired by classic children's books. In the Mystery Mansion, guests become sleuths solving riddles. The Upside-Down Nonsense House invites play with silly words and rhymes. Adventure Island features a shipwreck and caves to explore. Fairy Tale Forest displays famous fairy tale characters and settings. The Wizard's Workshop lets children delve into fantasy magic. Each area functions as a complete, fully-engaging environment with related books available to read on site or check out at the museum's library self-checkout kiosk, a mini-branch of the Rochester Public Library System. The exhibit also displays colorful Little Golden Books from The Strong's collection of nearly 2,400 titles, sampling playful children's books that have inspired creative play since 1942.
