Purple Goat Gardens is a working farm near Austinburg where visitors interact directly with animals and the landscape. Guests meet the goats, hike wooded trails where the animals browse alongside them, and participate in hands-on care: checking for parasites under a microscope, rationing grain by weight, trimming hooves, and milking does when in season. At the chicken palace, visitors find eggs in nesting boxes, feed hens and roosters, and learn to identify nine chicken breeds including rare Ayam Cemanis—Indonesian black chickens with black beaks, combs, tongues, and skin—and Bielefelders, known for their friendly temperament. The farm also operates a Pottery Studio, Boardgame Barn, and Nature Preschool. Toddler Time and Kids Camp serve younger children. Visitors can take private tours or bring school and camp groups.
