About Otis H. Chidester Scout Museum

The Otis H. Chidester Scout Museum in Tucson houses one of the largest collections of Scouting memorabilia in the world. Visitors explore written records, photographs, audio materials, and physical artifacts documenting the history of the Boy Scouts of America, with particular emphasis on Scouting in southern Arizona and the Southwest. The museum's collection was assembled by Otis Chidester, who began Scouting in 1912 and remained the oldest continually active Scout in the country. The museum preserves and organizes these materials to tell the story of American Scouting across generations. Families, Scout groups, and organizations interested in Scouting history can visit during regular Saturday morning hours or arrange private tours. The museum welcomes groups and individuals seeking to learn about Scout traditions and achievements in the region and beyond.
