About Southern Arizona Transportation Museum

The Southern Arizona Transportation Museum in Tucson showcases the region's transportation history through exhibits and artifacts. Visitors explore railroad memorabilia, including maps, uniforms, timetables, historic photographs, and items from Southern Pacific and Union Pacific operations. The museum features a new mural on the Toole Street side of the building depicting railroad construction by local peoples, the 1880 arrival ceremony, and the 1940s tourist era. The attraction is part of the Tucson Transportation Trail, a collaborative route among six regional transportation museums including the Old Pueblo Trolley Museum, Tucson Wagon and History Museum, Franklin Auto Museum, Tucson Auto Museum, and Rolling Thru Time Auto Museum. Visitors who complete the trail circuit receive a prize. The museum suits history enthusiasts and those interested in learning about Arizona's railroad heritage and regional transportation development. General admission is free.
