Museum of Making Music, Carlsbad

About Museum of Making Music

Museum of Making Music displays vintage guitars, drums, and keyboards in its hands-on galleries, where visitors pick up instruments, sit at drum kits, or try instruments they have never played before. The museum tells the story of how instruments are made, sold, and played, and how music has shaped the last century of American life. School groups can book field trip programs led by trained facilitators, which include audio and video samples, STEAM units, and hands-on music making; field trips are free for Title One designated schools. Homeschool groups can participate in Homeschool Days with special activities designed for families. The museum is fully accessible with no stairs or barriers and offers sensory-friendly visits as a Certified Autism Center. It is located in Carlsbad, California, with free parking and free admission for children three and under and museum members.
