About Munroe Falls Historical Museum

The Munroe Falls Historical Society Museum occupies a 19th-century home built by Owen Brown, father of abolitionist John Brown, in 1853. Visitors explore exhibits on local history and access a library and archives containing volumes about Ohio, Summit County, and surrounding communities. The museum's collections include historical photographs, family records, maps and memorabilia spanning Munroe Falls' past. Notable artifacts on display are an 1838 map of the proposed settlement, the original plan for the Munroe Falls dam, Munroe Falls Manufacturing Company currency, and a 200-year-old working weaving loom. The museum grounds feature a time capsule plaque, buried in 1988 and scheduled to open in 2038. A separate exhibit interprets the history of the Old Fire Station, constructed in 1948 through volunteer labor and community fundraising. The museum serves anyone interested in learning about Munroe Falls' extraordinary people, places and events. It is located in Munroe Falls, Ohio.
