About Mission San Antonio de Padua
Mission San Antonio de Padua, established in 1771 on the California's Central Coast, preserves early mission life within 86 acres in the Valley of the Oaks near Fort Hunter Liggett. Visitors explore the Great Church, a reconstructed adobe structure with six-foot-thick walls, alongside the water-powered gristmill built in 1806, which retains its original reservoir, millrace, and stone masonry. The tannery with four tile-covered tanks remains visible near the mill. A cemetery surrounded by stone walls and topped with adobe stands on the grounds. The mission operates as an active parish offering Sunday Mass at 10:30 a.m. Families and history enthusiasts can walk the restored buildings and grounds to experience California's Spanish colonial period. The mission publishes admission prices online and operates on a schedule available before visiting. Located at Mission Road in Jolon, the site operates Wednesday through Saturday mornings and on Sundays following Mass.
