Carmel Heritage Society preserves and showcases the architectural and cultural history of Carmel-by-the-Sea through guided Home and Inns Tours. Visitors pick up tickets at the First Murphy House on Lincoln Street between Fifth and Sixth, where they receive a packet containing the ticket, a map of featured homes, and descriptions of each property on the tour route. The organization offers multiple membership levels with escalating benefits: Individual members receive ten dollars off Home and Inns Tour tickets, while Gold members receive ten dollars off two tickets plus access to complimentary Walking Tours of Carmel offered twice yearly and invitations to members-only events. Higher membership tiers provide free admission to all events and exclusive access to tours of the famous Hansel and Gretel Houses. The society accepts tax-deductible donations and recruits volunteers to serve as docents.
