About Point Lobos State Natural Reserve
Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, located three miles south of Carmel-By-The-Sea on Highway 1, features headlands, coves, rolling meadows, and an offshore area recognized as one of the richest underwater habitats in the world. Day-use visitors explore the reserve's coastal landscape during operating hours. The park hosts habitat restoration volunteer days, BioBlitz events for California Biodiversity Week, and Underwater BioBlitz programs that engage visitors in ecological observation and conservation work. The reserve accepts four discount passes verified on parks.ca.gov: the Disabled Discount Pass provides a 50% discount on vehicle day-use fees; the Distinguished Veteran Pass offers free basic facilities use for honorably discharged California residents; the Fourth Grade Pass grants free entry for fourth graders and their families at this location and 53 other select state parks; and the Senior Golden Bear Pass costs $20 annually for visitors 62 and older, providing free entry during non-peak season for the passholder and spouse or domestic partner.
