Carmel Mission Basilica, Carmel-by-the-Sea

About Carmel Mission Basilica

Carmel Mission Basilica invites visitors to explore its Basilica, museums, and grounds through self-guided tours that reveal centuries of religious and cultural history. The mission grounds feature historic buildings, beautiful courtyards including the Central Courtyard where seasonal events like the Blessing of the Animals take place, and an extraordinary collection of art and religious artifacts displayed in the museums. Visitors can wander the storied grounds at their own pace, using the mission map and guide available on-site. Wheelchairs are available upon request, and the majority of the tour route accommodates mobility devices. Two ADA-compliant restrooms serve visitors and those attending services. The mission operates as an active parish, so access to the Basilica may be limited during weddings, services, or special events; calling ahead helps confirm activities scheduled for your visit. Carmel Mission Basilica is located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Children 6 and under are admitted free, while admission prices for other ages are published on carmelmission.org.
