About Rios Caledonia Adobe

The Historic Rios-Caledonia Adobe, built in 1835 south of the San Miguel Mission, served as a home for the overseer of Mission lands. Visitors explore the original Inn and Stagecoach stop, now operating as a museum with a small gift shop displaying period artifacts and local goods. A 1930 addition houses a unique history research library where guests can research local historical records and documents. The beautifully maintained grounds feature picnic sites and restrooms for visitor comfort. The adobe stands as California Historical Landmark number 936 and appears on the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places. Located on the old mission trail between San Francisco and Los Angeles, eight miles north of Paso Robles, the site offers a concrete connection to early California history. Volunteers staff the museum, gift shop, and research library to help visitors understand the adobe's significance and the region's past.
