About Mission Garden

Mission Garden is a living agricultural museum in Tucson that showcases Sonoran Desert heritage crops, fruit trees, and edible native plants. Visitors explore themed garden plots including Native Plants, Hohokam, O'odham Before and After European Contact, Spanish, Mexican, Chinese, Yoeme, Medicinal, and Field Crops, with additional sections in development. Self-guided tours use brochures and maps at the welcome kiosk, with information boxes beside each plot. The garden offers an augmented reality experience where visitors see historic images of food cultivation, watch planting demonstrations, listen to planting songs, and learn recipes. Classes, workshops, and field trips are available throughout the year. The Garden Shop sells seeds, plants, books on history and gardening, fresh seasonal produce, dried herbs, and eggs. Located at the foot of Sentinel Peak on the site of the Native American village of Cuk Ṣon in Tucson, general admission is free.
