About Historic Prospect Place Estate

Historic Prospect Place Estate is a 29-room mansion built in 1856 by abolitionist George Willison Adams. Visitors explore the restored home through guided tours led by knowledgeable staff who share the stories of the people who lived and worked here. The estate displays hundreds of fascinating artifacts and features unique architectural elements throughout its rooms. During the 1850s and 1860s, Prospect Place served as a station on the Underground Railroad, a role commemorated by the Friends of Freedom Society marker displayed in the library window. The site offers educational field trips and presentations for groups seeking to learn regional history. Paranormal tours, flashlight tours, public ghost hunts, and private ghost hunts provide alternative ways to experience the mansion after dark. The estate, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sits in Trinway, Ohio, and remains the last surviving mansion from the historic Dresden-area homes known as the seats of the Lords of the Valley.
