The Shoseian Teahouse and Japanese Friendship Garden in Glendale preserves the beauty and traditions of Japanese culture through regular family-friendly events and classes. Hosted by the Friends of Shoseian, a nonprofit organization, the venue presents tea ceremonies, festivals, demonstrations, and lectures connected to Asian arts and culture on the third Sunday of each month. Visitors can participate in hands-on workshops such as tea whisking, ikebana flower arranging, and traditional juraku making. The garden also hosts the annual Cherry Blossom Festival and the Samurai Film Festival. Additional programs include lectures on Shinto spirituality, Tang Soo Do Korean karate, the art of the jo staff, reiki and yin yoga sessions, and cultural talks on Japanese travel and customs. Special events like the Imagine Project, a global peace initiative featuring traditional Japanese tea ceremony, are offered periodically. The teahouse and garden serve as a community gathering place dedicated to sharing Japan's artistic heritage and cultural traditions with audiences of all backgrounds.
