About Fort Laurens Museum

Fort Laurens Museum occupies Ohio's only Revolutionary War fort, where visitors walk the grounds to see the original fort outline and explore a small museum dedicated to frontier soldiers. The museum displays artifacts excavated onsite and presents video exhibits about the fort's history. The centerpiece is the Tomb of the Unknown Patriot, a memorial to an unidentified soldier from the fort. The site includes a park area with two picnic shelters and serves as a trailhead for the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Visitors can attend special programs including archaeology school days and speaker series events. The location near Bolivar sits conveniently close to Historic Zoar Village and regional shops, restaurants, theaters, gardens, and wineries.
