About Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens
Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens holds over sixty hand-carved steam-engine sculptures created by Ernest "Mooney" Warther, the World's Master Carver who whittled for 82 years after finding a pocketknife as a child. Visitors tour the original workshop left untouched since Warther's death in 1973, the family home built in 1910, and the "Button House," where over 73,000 buttons hang in quilt and geometric patterns. The Dave Warther Arboretum features fifty woody plant species, a 1920s B&O caboose, an early twentieth-century steam engine, Dover's original telegraph office, and Frieda Warther's Swiss Gardens. Guided tours run several times daily and typically last an hour and fifteen minutes; most guests spend two hours on site. The museum sits in Dover, Ohio, and charges admission with prices published online.
