About Cleveland Hungarian Museum

The Cleveland Hungarian Museum preserves Hungarian culture and history through exhibits, programs, and a research library. Visitors explore collections of Hungarian historical, literary, and artistic items displayed in rotating exhibits that highlight topics such as Hungarian textiles, embroidery, pottery, and porcelain. Permanent displays cover the history of Hungarians in Cleveland since the 1880s, Hungarian churches, Hungarian-language press, and famous Hungarians in Cleveland and worldwide. The museum features the Minacs Collection and has displayed items such as the cope of King Mátyás. The organization presents lectures and programs related to Hungarian heritage and produces publications including its newsletter, the Review. Educational activities and research opportunities engage visitors interested in Hungarian-American history. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, the museum operates as an entirely volunteer-run institution within the Cleveland Hungarian Heritage Society, which was incorporated over 40 years ago to safeguard and promote Hungarian immigrant contributions to the region.
