Chaparral Ice is Austin's public ice skating facility, featuring an NHL-regulation rink where visitors can ice skate, learn hockey, and participate in figure skating. The facility offers public skating sessions for casual visitors of all skill levels. For those wanting to develop their abilities, Learn to Skate and Learn Hockey programs teach fundamentals to beginners. The venue hosts figure skating instruction and competitive figure skating clubs, along with adult hockey leagues for experienced players. Chaparral Ice also runs seasonal camps and provides party and event hosting for groups. A pro shop on-site supplies skates and related equipment. The facility welcomes the Austin Figure Skating Club and hosts University of Texas hockey. Located at Northcross Center in north Austin, the rink serves over 150,000 visitors annually through its varied programming, making it the only publicly accessible NHL-regulation ice facility in the city.
