Carrillo Ranch Historic Park is a 27-acre historic property in Carlsbad that preserves the former home and grounds of actor, preservationist and conservationist Leo Carrillo. Visitors explore hand-crafted buildings and structures set within a landscaped canyon setting. The park features a walking tour that guides guests through the historic ranch, with signage and interpretive materials explaining the site's architecture and Carrillo's life and legacy. Educational programs serve local fourth-grade students through a California History and Art curriculum that has operated since 1997. The park also houses a visitor center with video presentations about Carrillo's career, including his role as Pancho in the pioneering 1950s television series The Cisco Kid, as well as a library of his motion pictures. The Friends of Carrillo Ranch organization maintains the property as a California Historical Landmark and National Register site, continuing restoration and preservation efforts on the ranch buildings and grounds.
