Carnegie Gallery in Anaheim occupies a Classic Revival style building constructed in 1908 with a red clay tile roof reflecting local Spanish heritage. Originally built as the Anaheim Carnegie Library with funding from Andrew Carnegie's office, the structure served the community as a public library until 1963. The building later housed the city's Personnel Department before becoming a historical library, research center, and museum in 1978. It was recognized on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The Anaheim Museum, which operates from this location, developed under the leadership of director Mark Hall-Patton and supporter Mildred Taggart. The historic building has undergone renovations including the addition of an elevator, updated plumbing and electrical systems, and accessibility improvements.
