About Asarco Mineral Discovery Center & Mine Tours

Asarco Mineral Discovery Center & Mine Tours educates visitors on copper mining's role in modern society through indoor and outdoor exhibits tracing the copper transformation process. The center offers a free self-guided tour where guests walk through displays explaining how copper reaches hospitals, homes, farms and transportation systems. A separate ticketed mine tour, approximately 65 minutes long, takes visitors underground for a firsthand look at mining operations. The facility includes a gift shop stocked with unique and educational items. Visitors must wear closed-toed shoes for the mine tour; Crocs, flip-flops and sandals are not permitted. The attraction suits school groups and families curious about Arizona's mining heritage and earth sciences. Located in Sahuarita, Arizona, the center charges admission for mine tours. Children under four tour free, and Green Valley and Sahuarita residents receive one dollar off the mine tour with proof of residency, according to asarco.com.
