About Western North Carolina Nature Center

Western North Carolina Nature Center connects visitors with red wolves, black bears, otters, red pandas, and sixty other wild and domestic species across forty-two award-winning acres in Asheville. Guests walk through habitats representing the Southern Appalachian region, observing animals like timber rattlesnakes, raccoons, and striped skunks in naturalistic settings. The center offers Wild Walks where visitors see behind the scenes to watch keepers feed animals and conduct enrichment sessions. Seasonal programs include Wolf Howl evening tours through red and gray wolf habitats, Night at the Nature Center for nocturnal species, and art classes like Painting With Animals for children. Birthday parties and private guided tours with educators are available. Admission is charged; tickets sell online through the venue's site. Active duty and retired military receive free admission with ID. Library cardholders at participating libraries in twelve regional counties can check out a pass for free admission for up to two adults and four children ages three to seventeen.
