The UC Davis Tahoe City Field Station in Tahoe City, California, is a working research facility housed in a historic hatchery building dating from the 1920s. The Eriksson Education Center, located within the field station, features exhibits exploring Lake Tahoe's unique characteristics and the scientific research used to restore and protect the lake. Visitors can view interactive touchscreen displays with videos and games for children, as well as a timeline of aquatic activity in Lake Tahoe. The center sits on three acres that include a native plant demonstration garden with interpretive panels and test plots. Walk-in visitors are welcome to explore the grounds and exhibition space independently. Guided tours are also available by appointment and require advance notice since the facility operates as an active research center. The Eriksson Education Center is open during the summer season.
Hours: Daily 8 a.m.–6 p.m. (summer months: Memorial Day through Labor Day)
