About Gold Bug Park & Mine

Gold Bug Park & Mine, located one mile north of Highway 50 off Bedford Avenue in Placerville, offers visitors a chance to explore California's gold rush heritage. The park features gem panning activities where guests can search for stones and minerals. A historic stamp mill and blacksmith shop demonstrate traditional mining-era craftsmanship and techniques. The Gold Bug Mine itself is open for both self-guided and guided underground tours, allowing visitors to experience an actual mine shaft. Hattie's Museum displays artifacts and exhibits related to local history. The park also maintains two miles of hiking trails through the grounds. A gift shop on site offers souvenirs and mining-related items. The combination of hands-on activities, historical structures, and outdoor exploration makes the park suitable for families and history enthusiasts interested in the region's mining past.
