About The Tree of Valor

The Tree of Valor is a traveling pictorial exhibit that honors military service members, law enforcement officers, and first responders by displaying their photographs on evergreen trees. Visitors to the Military Tribute Gallery in Burlington can view trees decorated with wooden photo mementos submitted by family and friends of those being honored. The gallery, located at Alamance Crossing, features a forest of approximately 150 trees ranging from 12 inches to 12 feet tall. The project began in 2019 with a single artificial Christmas tree and has expanded to include deployments across North Carolina and eight additional states. The organization also displays tribute collections at events including VFW conventions, veterans' coffee gatherings, suicide awareness programs, and Main Street storefronts. The mission focuses on reaching veterans who feel forgotten, allowing them to discover that their service has not been overlooked. General admission is free, and the gallery is open several days weekly, with tours available by appointment on other days.
